Raising Awareness of Signs and Symptoms Suggestive of Cancer

It is important to be aware of possible symptoms that may need medical review. Early detection can make a significant difference.

Please contact the practice if you experience any of the following persistent or unexplained symptoms:

  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Persistent fatigue
  • A lump or swelling anywhere in the body
  • Persistent pain that does not go away
  • Changes in bowel habits (e.g. constipation, diarrhoea, or blood in stool)
  • Persistent cough or coughing up blood
  • Changes in urinary habits or blood in urine
  • Unusual bleeding (e.g. vaginal bleeding between periods or after menopause)
  • Changes to skin moles or new skin changes
  • Difficulty swallowing or persistent indigestion

The NHS offers free screening programmes designed to detect cancers early, often before symptoms appear.
